Reflexology for Women's Health

How can reflexology support your hormonal journey? By Clare Potosi.

In this blog we learn about how reflexology can support your journey towards balance and harmony during the many transitions experienced during a woman's life.

Reflexology is a gentle and deeply relaxing therapy that involves the application of pressure to different reflex points on the feet, hand or face to support the body's own healing processes.

This wonderful treatment can help calm the nervous system, relieve stress and tension and support optimal functioning of the immune system. Reflexology can also help people struggling with anxiety, headaches, insomnia, autoimmune disorders and digestive issues as well supporting women's health transitions.

One of the main reasons I love reflexology and decided to train is because it is a very supportive treatment for women experiencing the hormonal dysregulation of PMT, PCOS, peri-menopause and post menopause as it encourages a natural balance of the endocrine system. Since completing my reflexology training I have become fascinated by the ways in which reflexology can be used to support fertility, pregnancy and childbirth, so I recently decided to further develop my knowledge and complete a specialist diploma in Pre-Conception & Pregnancy Reflexology.

Reflexology for Pregnancy and Post-natal

Reflexology is a relaxing & supportive treatment for pregnant women in their second and third

trimester. Each session of reflexology provides a tranquil space for relaxation, calms the

nervous system and creates balance emotionally and physically. Reflexology can also provide

some relief from common pregnancy related conditions such as back & pelvic pain, digestive

discomfort, sleep issues and swollen ankles. During the 'fourth trimester' reflexology sessions offer some much needed time to rest and regain strength following birth and then whilst navigating the complexities of parenthood.

Reflexology for Supporting Birth

Reflexology can help to reduce time in labour and midwives recommend reflexology as

part of a pre and post-natal self care plan.

Reflexology for Pre-Conception and Fertility

Both Mum's and Dad's-to-be benefit from reflexology as part of pre-conception preparation or, should more support be needed at times of fertility difficulties or complementary to IVF courses. Reflexology is also exceptionally nurturing and can be helpful at times of grief caused by early loss. Reflexology produces a state of deep relaxation, helping to restore adrenal balance, endocrine function and lower cortisol levels. This means that you will feel calmer, more rested and well supported through what can be a challenging time.

Reflexology for Menopause

Reflexology is a successful hormone balancing therapy helping to improve blood circulation and aid in regulating the menstrual cycle. Having completed training in Reflexology for Menopause, I am able to provide bespoke relaxing treatments and offer lifestyle advice if needed for women

during this natural life transition.
